Delhi is a category I Cantonment, established in 1914. The Board consists of 16 members, including 8 elected members. Total number of population as per 2011 census was 110351.
Delhi Cantonment Board runs 8 schools, one Public school with classes from 1 to 10 wherein medium of instruction is English, 6 Sr. Secondary schools wherein medium of instruction is Hindi and one School for Physically disabled children. All the schools are located in the Cantonment to cater to the educational requirements of the civil population of the Cantonment. The Cantonment Board strives sincerely to provide quality education and good academic environment.
The Cantonment General Hospital is a 49 bedded unit at present, providing general medical and primary emergency care services including Laboratory, X-ray and Delivery services. It has a full-time dental clinic and specialists of Orthopedics, Pediatrics, ENT, Anesthetic, Surgery, Obstt. & Gynae, Medicine, Dermatology and Ophthalmology. It has in its premises a Health Post of Delhi Govt which provides Maternal and Child Health Services including Antenatal Care and Immunization Services. It also has the DOTS Centre of Delhi Govt providing treatment of tuberculosis. A Homoeopathy Clinic run by Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) is also functional on a daily basis. The Cantonment General Hospital also implements all the National Health Programs including Pulse Polio Program, School Health and Tuberculosis Control.
