As an active & positive agent of change and to include all and needy under Right to Education, “PAHEL Yojana” has been formally launched from 20 August 2011 by Swami Vivekanand Cantt Model Higher Secondary School, under aegis of Cantonment Board, Jabalpur.

After door to door survey, approx. 100 children have been identified, who because of their disadvantaged social and economic conditions, are unable to attend school and get education.
Cantonemnt Board, along with local NGO CHETNA, encouraged such children, along with their parents to come to school.  With help of JAK Riffles Centre and AWWA, bus/vehicle has been provided to bring them to school and leave them after classes. Special study hours have been fixed in afternoon for them in the school premises, along with two teachers.  The NGO working in slum areas of Cantonment viz. Nehru Nagar and Kawardha House, has been assigned task, to ensure more and more children avail, this facility. After initial trial of one month (beginning 15 July 2011), Board is now providing books, stationery, uniform, shoes, bag and fruit to each child, while mid day meal is provided in school campus.  One of AWWA active member, voluntarily is monitoring and coordinating so that their parents send them to school and more and more children attend classes regularly. As on date, 42 children, most of them rag pickers / street urchins are, coming to school and studying. Shortly, vocational course, to make them self reliant, shall be started.

The scheme has been enthusiastically responded by children and their parents alike and appreciated by all.
